Home care costs & fees

Live-In Care Costs in the UK

At Betty Stafford’s Care, we believe in complete financial transparency. Our core ethos is simple: the carer always receives most of the weekly fee.

Because all of our carers are independent and self-employed, they set their own daily rates based on your specific care needs and required working hours. A standard, fully inclusive live-in care arrangement can be established from £1,134 per week.

During your initial consultation, we will discuss your budget and agree on a plan that introduces the best possible carers within your financial parameters.

How Live-In Care Pricing Works

Live-in care pricing is generally based on a 10–12 hour working day. The total cost is comprised of the self-employed carer’s daily rate plus the Betty Stafford's Care platform introductory fee.

Factors Affecting Your Live-In Care Costs

Self-employed carer fees fluctuate depending on the complexity of the home care support required:

  • Level of care needs: specialised care (such as advanced dementia support, palliative care, or mobility assistance requiring two people) will command higher daily carer rates.

  • Night waking support: many carers include 1–2 night wakes within their standard daily rate. If a client requires regular, disrupted night calls, some carers charge an additional night-wake fee, which is typically in the region of £10–15 per disturbance.

  • Bank holidays: self-employed carers generally charge double their standard daily rate for major public holidays.

Hourly Home Care Fees

Where we support clients with hourly care, we charge an introductory fee of £6.60 per hour in addition to the carer's hourly rates. Daily and visiting carers often charge between £18–25 per hour, which frequently includes mileage costs within their rates (depending on the distance to travel).
